Toddlers
 (12 months – age 3)

A Montessori classroom for toddlers safely supports your child’s drive to do things alone, developing confidence and a sense of competence. In this learning environment, children work independently, observe others, explore freely, and express their curiosity and creativity.

We do gross motor activities to help children coordinate their movements. All our furniture and material in the environment is child-sized and easily accessible to the young children.

The Toddler Program is active, self-paced, and involves learning using all five senses.

Similarly, the daily routine reflects this age groups need to learn through movement and hands-on experience, while embracing children’s individual needs, interests, and learning style. Once children complete the Toddler Program, they progress to the Montessori Pre Primary Program, where they master the progression of the Montessori Curriculum, and prepare for their transition to school.

Pre-Primary
(3 – 5 years)

The Montessori Preschool Program offers children a dynamic learning environment where they are empowered to choose their work, follow their interests, and progress at their own pace. Within this space, children develop their independence, refine their concentration, and explode into learning as they develop their intelligence and higher-level brain processes.

Between the ages of three and six, pre-schoolers move through sensitive periods for language, order, grace and courtesy, the senses, writing, small objects, music, reading, spatial relationships, and mathematics.

During this stage of development, the Preschool Curriculum introduces children to a range of advanced Montessori materials that expand on their knowledge of Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language and Culture.

Primary School
(Grade 0 – 3)

Our primary school has started in January 2023. The curriculum we will be using is the Government Curriculum enhanced by the Montessori materials to give learners concrete learning experience. Our goal is to introduce the Cambridge Schooling Curriculum after grade 1. A mixed aged classroom and a fun learning experience in and outside the classroom are awaiting our Kinderhaus primary school learners. Their class teacher is Dunchile Jannetjies.

Aftercare

For families that need additional childcare after school hours (7:00am to 1:00pm), we offer an Aftercare Program that runs from 1 to 5pm. To participate in aftercare, students must be enrolled at Windhoek Kinderhaus Pre-Primary or Primary School in our Full Day program which we have limited space available.

The Aftercare program offers children a resting period from 1:30 until 3pm as well as time for structured activities and free play on our shaded playground. These activities vary daily and include baking, crafting, playing games and dancing and much time to play outside. The program is run by two teachers of Kinderhaus every afternoon, from Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays and closing times).
